Cornwall LA Study Plus Units

There are short overviews of a further seven units developed by the Cornwall LA team and their teachers.

Crack the code

Pupils explore a variety of codes and then begin to explore in depth frequency analysis of different letters in text. There is opportunity to develop cross-curricular work with the history department looking at the Enigma machine and the part that it played in World War 2.

Deal or no deal

This unit focuses on real-life game shows where probability can be used to help decide what decision to make at various key points in a game.

Olympic village 2012

Pupils plan and design the Olympic village for participating athletes in the London 2012 Olympics. Curricular targets include knowing and using the formula for the volume of a cuboid, calculating volumes and surface areas of cuboids and shapes made from cuboids, visualising and using 2-D representation of 3-D objects.
