We are developing new ways of working that help people in Lancashire. We need passionate social workers to support our communities.

Our social workers use strengths-based practice. This means we help people connect with their communities and support them to achieve their own goals.

We have full-time and part-time roles in:

  • short term support and urgent care

  • safeguarding

  • community (older adults and physical disability)

  • mental health

  • learning disability and autism

What you will do

People are at the heart of our work. As a social worker, you will use your legal and professional knowledge to:

  • complete Care Act 2014 assessments

  • carry out Mental Capacity Act 2005 assessments

  • lead section 42 safeguarding enquiries

  • make Court of Protection applications

  • create person-centred support plans

  • assess for NHS continuing health care

  • work with other professionals to make positive changes and manage risk

  • provide specialist assessments and services, such as:

    • Mental Health Act (2007) assessments

    • forensic services

    • best interest assessments under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

Training and development

When you join adult services, you will start with our adult social care academy. This training programme supports you through your first year and helps you keep your knowledge up to date.

You will also receive:

  • training in strengths-based practice

  • ongoing professional development through our learning and development framework

  • training for specialist roles, including:

    • approved mental health professional

    • best interest assessor

    • practice educator

Salary

  • social workers: up to £40,778

  • senior social workers: up to £46,142

Flexible working

We support flexible working. Our social workers are based in the community, in offices, and can work from home where possible.
