Attendance for CLA, PLAC and CWSW

EBSA

If a child is finding attending school difficult for emotional reasons, you should follow the Emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) guidance.

If you have a child on a Child-in Need, Child Protection Plan, or is a previously looked-after child,  please ensure that they are coded correctly on you school management information system.

Monitoring attendance of children looked after

Lancashire Virtual School monitors the attendance of children looked after by Lancashire, including those attending schools outside the county. Up-to-date attendance information helps us identify concerns early and work with schools and other professionals to support each child. This work reflects the Department for Education’s school attendance guidance.

We have commissioned Welfare Call to provide our attendance monitoring service. Welfare Call can collect attendance information from your school’s management information system through Wonde.

Connecting through Wonde gives the Virtual School up-to-date attendance information without asking your staff to respond to routine calls or emails each day. This helps us spot changes in a child’s attendance sooner and work with your school to offer support when it is needed.

Where a Wonde connection is unavailable, Welfare Call can also collect information by calling schools

Connect your school through Wonde

Please approve the Welfare Call connection in your Wonde School Portal. You can find the request under Pending approval in My Apps and review the data permissions before approving it. If your school does not yet use Wonde, contact support@wonde.com for help getting connected.

Your school may already use Wonde to share attendance data with the Department for Education. Please check the Welfare Call request separately in your Wonde portal so that Lancashire Virtual School can receive the information it needs for this service.

If you have questions about Lancashire’s attendance monitoring arrangements, or cannot connect through Wonde, contact virtualschool@lancashire.gov.uk.
