Early years support and training

Support and training opportunities for all early years settings.

The Early Years Professional Development Centre

The Early Years Professional Development Centre is here for all early years practitioners to support them in their professional practice.

The Centre has been redesigned as an immersive journey through workshop activity stations to support practitioners from all sectors to reflect on, review and plan their own enabling environments back in their own settings.

The centre will support practitioners to think about:

  • why they need spaces and places within their settings that enable children to learn

  • why layout of rooms and outdoor spaces matter

  • why use of colour, open ended resources and multi-sensory resources can significantly support learning and development

  • how to layout their own room and outdoor areas

  • how to set up an area of provision and have a go

  • how to ensure that they are providing an emotionally secure environment supporting children to manage their feelings and behaviour, make friends and foster a genuine sense of belonging

  • how to meet the needs of typical groups within their setting through their spaces and places

  • how to really tune into unique children through their use of resources to support their role as an effective adult

  • how to ensure that their resourcing supports their  curriculum, helping children to make progress sequentially, building on what they already know and can do

Plan your visit

The centre is no longer set up as an example of how you might set up your own spaces. It is now set up as a workshop journey for practitioners to follow to ensure that their own spaces are as enabling as they possibly can be, it is located on the ground floor and is fully accessible.
