The Lancashire Quality Award - The Next Step: Embedding Effective Early Years Pedagogy for the 21st Century
This programme is particularly relevant for schools who have previously undertaken ‘Step into Quality’.
This is a quality improvement programme which has been extremely successful in raising standards and securing outstanding practice in the early years in Lancashire schools.
This programme is for schools wanting to:
Embed existing good EYFS practice and evidence outstanding features
Raise outcomes for all children with particular reference to PSED and the development of learning behaviours
Evidence a climate which fosters healthy attitudes to learning and build effective teaching strategies to ensure children develop autonomy
Close the gap and ensure structured well documented catch up for vulnerable learners
Ensure children consistently demonstrate the characteristics of learning
With an additional focus on:
The role of the adult in supporting learning within the observation, assessment and planning process
Raising ambitions for children
The programme includes:
An introductory training session for the EYFS team and Headteacher
A further professional development training session for the class teacher and TAs with senior leaders invited to work alongside as support for monitoring and evaluation of practice
Up to two mentor visits on site by an Early Years Consultant

The programme runs for two terms and begins at any point in the year.
