Lancashire Music Service/LPDS Music CPD offer

The Music CPD programme is delivered via Lancashire Music Service. LMS is the Hub Lead Organisation for Lancashire Music Hub (encompassing Lancashire and Blackpool), and receives funding via the DFE and Arts Council to provide support to schools in the hub area, as well as other activities for Children and Young People. All LMS CPD is overseen by Rick Kershaw, the Training and Quality Manager. He is an ex Secondary Head of Music in Lancashire, and has 20 years experience as a teacher, Head of Department. All our CPD is designed to develop subject knowledge, teacher confidence and improve the outcomes for your school's pupils.

Due to the Arts Council funding, a great deal of the CPD sessions are available to Lancashire Music Hub schools at no cost. LMS has also been approved as an Apple Regional Training Centre, meaning that we can provide Apple specific hardware and software CPD to schools across the country free of charge.

Rick also provides "Training Thursdays", a monthly online CPD series designed to help both Music Leads and classroom teachers with their provision in schools. Lancashire and Blackpool Schools can access this at no cost, and schools outside of the Music Hub area can purchase a subscription to the series. These sessions are all recorded, so even if you cannot attend the session in person, you will still receive the recording afterwards if you have registered. We also provide subject leader Network Meetings every term. These are online and are at no cost to schools.

Other CPD courses are listed below, and can be bought directly into your school for a half-day/twilight or a full INSET day. Every year we run schools conferences, these are full day events to help you with your provision, please see our events page for more information. If you have another Music focus that your school requires CPD on, please get in touch to have a bespoke session created for you.

Supportive Visit

All Lancashire and Blackpool schools are offered a supportive visit at no cost to the school. This can focus on any aspect of your Music offer, including your Music Development Plan, curriculum, resources, extra-curricular activities or anything else you would like to discuss.
