Lancashire Equality and Inclusion Mark
The Lancashire Equality and Inclusion Mark is awarded to schools who have taken measures to embed Equality throughout their practice with the goal of enabling all pupils to thrive in a supportive learning community. It has been developed by a working group in Lancashire and provides a clear framework to guide schools through the process of auditing, developing and consolidating good practice in different areas of Equality. It builds on and extends the good practice of the Lancashire Race Equality Mark.
The Equality and Inclusion Mark comprises of six individual Equality Badges:
Race Equality Badge
Sex Equality Badge
Disability Equality Badge
Holistic Diversity Equality Badge
Sexual Orientation Equality Badge
Religion and Belief Equality Badge
When a school achieves all six badges they will be awarded the Equality and Inclusion Mark and the Equality and Inclusion Mark banner. Schools determine their own pathway through the framework by identifying meaningful priorities that will make a difference in the area of equality in their school community and will support their wider development plans. Schools can work at their own pace and they can choose from a range of packages of support to meet their individual requirements.
What impacts have you noticed working towards the Lancashire Equality and Inclusion Mark?
Personally - passion about equality and ensuring that we are doing all that we can.
As a school: - The Equality and Inclusion Mark has embedded equality into every aspect of Haslingden Primary School, from governance and policies to curriculum planning and staff training. It has enriched learning through diverse role models and open conversations about culture, families, and neurodiversity, while ensuring all pupils access inclusive opportunities. Visible pride and empowerment are evident through pupil-led equality initiatives, staff openness, and prominent displays celebrating diversity across the school.

We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the accreditation process for the Equality and Inclusion Award with Lancashire County Council. It provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, learning, and positive change within our school community.
