Validation

If your development must meet the general biodiversity net gain (BNG) condition, you must send the minimum information required by law. This is set out in Article 7 of The Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2015 and summarised in government guidelines.

Biodiversity net gain (Gov.uk)

To help meet government BNG guidelines, Lancashire County Council also asks you to provide the following, where relevant:

  • An outline strategy for meeting the BNG objective

  • Details of any proposed significant onsite enhancements, with reasons for classifying onsite habitat as significant or not significant

  • A draft Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan for significant onsite biodiversity enhancements

  • If relevant, a draft agreement for off-site habitat enhancement and 30 years of maintenance and monitoring

  • If relevant, a clear statement of alternatives considered to avoid losing irreplaceable habitats, and why they were not possible

  • If relevant, supporting evidence for watercourse condition assessments, including:

    • MoRPh survey notes

    • MoRPh5 survey score output

    • GIS outputs

    • Plans showing river elevation, upstream and downstream reach, river length, valley length, braiding index, and anabranching index

  • Where possible, GIS shape files for the application area and any off-site BNG land

BNG requirements do not replace or override any existing requirements for validation. Please see the validation information guide for more details.
