LERN
The Lancashire Environment Record Network (LERN) is the local environmental record centre for Lancashire. LERN is a member of the Association of Local Environmental Record Centres.
We collect, store, and share information about Lancashire’s environment, including:
Biodiversity (the variety of living things)
Geodiversity (the variety of rocks, minerals, and landforms)
Landscape
We publish data online through the National Biodiversity Network Atlas.

Where our information comes from
Our information is provided by partner organisations, groups, and many voluntary wildlife recorders. There are over one million biological records in the LERN database, and we have access to many more held by individuals and groups.
We also hold information about important and protected sites in Lancashire.
How our information is used
Many people and organisations use our data to help make decisions that take the environment into account.
We support and encourage the responsible collection of environmental records.
With your help, LERN can identify, understand, and protect Lancashire’s environment. LERN will be a living record for future generations.
