Independent financial information and advice about care costs

Independent financial information and advice can help you understand care costs, your payment options and how decisions may affect your finances.

Free financial information

Free information can help you understand benefits, care charges and the options available. It does not recommend specific financial products.

You can get information from the Lancashire County Council Welfare Rights Service and national charities. Keep a short, maintained list of trusted sources rather than repeating long directories across several pages.

Regulated financial advice

A regulated financial adviser can give personalised advice about pensions, investments, property and financial products. You will usually pay for this service.

Lancashire County Council cannot recommend an individual adviser. Link to an appropriate adviser directory and explain that users should check the adviser is authorised before paying for advice.

If you are unhappy with advice

If you are unhappy with advice from an external financial organisation, follow that organisation’s complaints process. You may also be able to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service.
