Lancashire's Local Account 2025-2026

Living Better Lives in Lancashire: In Conversation

To accompany this year's Local Account, Olly Moores, Co-Chair of Lancashire's Co-production Board, spoke with our directors about the future of Adult Social Care in Lancashire. The conversations explore how we are supporting people to live independently, strengthen local communities, provide help earlier and ensure that people who draw on care and support have a stronger voice in shaping services.

Our full Local Account has lots of information, so this is a short summary if you're short on time.

This report explains how Adult Social Care is helping people in Lancashire live safe, independent and fulfilling lives. We want people to get the right help at the right time and stay in their own homes and communities whenever possible.

Over the last year, we have focused on helping people earlier, making it easier to find information and advice, and making sure care and support is tailored to what matters most to each person.

We have continued to improve our services by listening to feedback from people, carers, staff and partners. Strong leadership and a skilled workforce help us do this. We have brought teams together to share learning and improve the support we provide.

We are working more closely with communities, charities, health services and local organisations to help people get support before they reach crisis point. We have expanded neighbourhood working and introduced Village Agents to help people in rural areas find support close to home.

We are also improving access to information and advice. This includes the Convo Now British Sign Language (BSL) app and the work of our Sensory Impairment Team, which helps people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind or partially sighted.

People and carers are playing a bigger role in shaping services. Their ideas and experiences are helping us improve how support is designed and delivered.

Technology is helping people stay safer and more independent too, including smart devices that can detect falls and raise an alert.

We have improved support for young people moving into adulthood and for unpaid carers, offering advice, emotional support, social opportunities and practical help.

Together, these improvements are helping us provide earlier help, more personalised support, stronger communities and better opportunities for people to live independently.

We know there is still more to do. We will continue to learn, improve and work alongside people, families, carers, staff and partners to make Lancashire a place where people can live better lives.
