Hospice care for children

Children's hospices provide respite and terminal care for children with life-limiting conditions in a home-from-home environment.

Care is provided by the voluntary sector for the child and their family at no cost to them for as long as is necessary, including post bereavement support.

Together for Short Lives can provide details about hospices in Lancashire.

The Kentown Children’s Palliative Care Programme

The Kentown Children’s Palliative Care Programme helps children and young people in Lancashire and South Cumbria who have life‑limiting conditions.

The programme provides extra care and support for seriously ill children and their families. It works alongside existing services to fill an important gap in community support.

The programme has three main parts:

  • nursing care

  • practical and emotional support

  • information and coordination
