All priority routes in Central & South Lancashire to be gritted this evening & overnight

We have weather predictions of snow, sleet and ice in Central & South Lancashire this evening and overnight, with temperatures reaching minus 2.3 deg C and risky conditions lasting until around 10am tomorrow in some places. We will apply salt to all priority routes this evening, and we will retreat as required overnight.

Priority routes only cover a third of the highway network and ice patches can develop on treated surfaces caused by water run-off from fields or other sources. Ice is most likely on untreated surfaces.
