Getting moving

With the sun shining (for the most part), it's a great time to get outside and get moving!

Whether you're a fitness fanatic or just starting out, there are lots of easy ways to get active in our county and fit exercise into your daily routine. Alongside a healthy diet, being active can reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, stroke and more. If you're looking to quit smoking this summer, there is support and advice available at our Family Hubs – find your local hub here.

Our Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) aims to ensure all children get the chance to have health, happy holidays. With the chance to get active, learn new skills and get a tasty and nutritious meal, this is a great way for children to spend time together and make new friends this summer. If your child is eligible for a funded place, you will have received an e-voucher by text or email on 3 July 2024.

If your child/children has a special educational need and/or disability (SEND), our Colourful Footsteps groups are a great way to help build their confidence to take part in physical play and exercise. These groups aim to help children to express themselves, experience positive social interactions and access learning and development opportunities. Search 'Colourful Footsteps' here and find a group near you.

Young people can access our Zones, sign up to be part of groups where they can have their say about local issues and find more about employment, education and training at our Youthzone.

Go Velo offers free Learn to Ride sessions and Level 3 Bikeability & Route planning courses in the Summer holidays. The sessions are funded by Lancashire County Council and are delivered in several districts across the county. Find out about courses in your area and how to reserve yours at Cycle training, bikeability, cycle coaching - holiday clubs (govelo.co.uk).
