2024 finalists

Thank you to everyone who sent in a nomination for the Staff Excellence Awards, this year we received over 400 submissions. They showcased some of the outstanding work being carried out across the organisation. The calibre of the nominations was exceptionally high and everyone nominated should be extremely proud. 

Nominees for the 'unsung heroes' are those who make an outstanding contribution to the work of their teams or other people they support.  This award will recognise an individual who demonstrates flexibility, reliability and enthusiasm to provide an outstanding, but often unseen contribution. 

This year's finalists are:

  • Karen Bonnar - Approved Mental Health Professional - Approved Mental Health Professional Service 
  • Rebecca Halford - Team Manager - West Lancashire Short Breaks Service
  • Suzanne Walmsley - Social Worker - Transitions Team - Adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism

  • Sarah Hadcroft - Funding and Data Officer - People Services
  • Michael Lister - Technical Supports Officer - Facilities Management

 

Nominees for this award have gone the extra mile in their job to achieve something truly outstanding or overcome adversity in their professional life to deliver excellent service. This category highlights our employees who are real ambassadors for the county council and a role model to their colleagues.

This year's finalists are:

  • Chloe McFaul - Business Support and Volunteer Lead - Lancashire Child and Youth Justice Services
  • Sean Neighbour - Technical Support Officer Welfare Rights
  • Kateryna Shmatkova - Customer Experience Advisor - Customer Access Serve 

This award is designed to recognise colleagues whose outstanding contribution is directly recognised by the individuals or communities they support in their role. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a passion for helping others and goes to great lengths to ensure our communities receive the best possible service.

This year's finalists are:

  • Jacqui Fisher - Adolescent Support Unit Practitioner - Education and Children's Services
  • Jean and John Gooch - Foster Carers
  • Vivien Mumford - Volunteer - Libraries

With this award we were looking for managers who motivated and inspired their team. Our finalists all demonstrated a forward thinking approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This year's finalists are:

  • Nichola Holt - Team Manager - Children's Social Care Empower East
  • Peter Sands - Operations Engineer - Highways
  • Heather Warburton - Business Support Senior Manager - Safeguarding Inspection and Audit (Children's)

 

This award recognises a collection of individuals who, through working together, have made a significant and positive impact. The award recognises a team where, individually and collectively, each colleague continually strives for excellence in service delivery and/or customer service.

This year's finalists are:

  • Devolution Team 
  • Lancashire Refugee Integration Team - Education and Children's Services
  • Security Response Team - Digital Services

Our finalists are those who always try to help, support, motivate and develop other people. They know when those around them need extra support – and offer it. They are on hand to offer ideas and suggestion when required.

  • Zaberjad Iftikhar - Engagement Officer Lancashire Archives and Local History
  • Lorraine Simpson - Team Leader Support - Homes for Ukraine, Customer Access Service
  • Lavinia Wilkinson - Quality and Practice Improvement Lead - Population Health and Strategic Operations

This category recognises someone that has been in their role for two years or less. Finalists could have previously held other roles within the authority.

This year's finalists are:

  • Max Chester - Market / Placement Analyst Policy, Commissioning and Children's Health
  • Debbie Fenwick - Business Support Officer - Lancashire Music Service
  • Zabrina Plenderleith - Team Leader - Quality Assurance Inspection and Safeguarding

 

This award is designed to recognise an exceptional colleague that has been with Lancashire County Council for 20 years or more. Their service does not have to be continuous. They will have shown a passion for the role(s) that they have during this time and will encompass the vision and values. 

The award focuses on what they have achieved throughout their career, rather than one single contribution. 

The finalists are: 

  • Gwen Monk - Senior Manager Children's Residential Services East, Fostering Adoption Residential Services
  • Andy Smith - Head of Service, Safeguarding, Inspection and Audit
  • Debbie Thompson - Public Health Specialist - Safer and Stronger Communities Growth, Environment, Transport and Health

Prizes 

Individual winners will receive a £50 Love2shop voucher and trophy. The Team of the Year receive a £250 restaurant voucher and a trophy. 

The winners for the following individual categories also win an extra day's leave; Employee of the Year, Manager of the Year, Pillar of Support, Making a Difference in our Community and Unsung Hero, Lifetime Achievement Award and Rising Star.
