2023 winners
The winners of the Staff Excellence Awards were announced at an awards ceremony held at The Exchange, County Hall in Preston.
The winners in each category are:
This recognises someone who has been in their role for two years or less but has made a huge impact over such a short time.
Winner: Kai Sinclair - Archive Assistant - Cultural Services

For this award we looked for nominations for the 'unsung heroes' who have supported others to do their jobs well, making an outstanding contribution to the work of their teams or other people they support. The winner of this award was chosen by Elaina Quesada, Deputy Executive Director of Adult Services.
Winner: Amy Hudson - Residential Care Assistant - Older People's Care Services
Runners up:
- Sarah Crawford - Social Care Support Officer - County Reblement and Occupational Therapy and Demand Management
- Susan Seargent - Social Care Support Officer - Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health
This award is designed to recognise colleagues whose outstanding contribution is directly recognised by the individuals or communities they support in their role. Our nominees all make a tangible difference to those they work with.
Winner: Sandra Silk - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Projects Officer - Planning and Environment

- Lisa Spencer - Youth Worker (Professional Range) - Children and Family Wellbeing Service
In this category, we were celebrating exceptional members of staff who have worked for the county council for 20 years or more. They have worked hard throughout their careers and shown real passion for their work.
Winner: David Slater - Locality Manager - Adult Disability Services

- Annie Blaney-Green - Team Manager - Quality Assurance Inspection and Safeguarding
- Wendy Cooper - Senior Operations Manager - Older People Care Services

The winner of this award was chosen by Phil Green, Executive Director of Growth, Environment, Transport and Health.
Winner: Steve Croston - Transfer Station Supervisor - Waste Management

This award recognises a collection of individuals who, through working together, have made a significant and positive impact. The award recognises a team where, individually and collectively, each colleague continually strives for excellence in service delivery and/or customer service.
Winner: Flood Risk Management

Winner: Michael Asbro - Child Family Practitioner - Front Door, Assessment and Adolescent Services

With this award we were looking for managers who motivated and inspired their team. Our finalists all demonstrated a forward-thinking approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- Mairead Gill-Mullarkey - Countywide Head of Service for Mental Health - Countywide Mental Health
For this award we looked for nominations for the 'unsung heroes' who have supported others to do their jobs well, making an outstanding contribution to the work of their teams or other people they support. The winner of this award was chosen by Mark Wynn, Executive Director of Resources.
Winner: Claire Walker - Staff Experience Manager - Peoples Service

- Catherine Earnshaw - Senior Democratic Services Officer - Legal, Governance and Registrars
- Dolores Day - Cleaning Operative - Facilities Management
Nominees for this award have gone the extra mile in their jobs to achieve something truly outstanding or overcome adversity in their professional lives to deliver excellent service. This category highlights our employees who are real ambassadors for the county council and role models to their colleagues. The winner was chosen by a public vote.
Winner: Rachael Hesketh - Social Worker - Fostering Adoption Lancashire Blackpool and Residential Services

- Joseph Mount - Skills and Economic Intelligence Officer - Business Growth Skills Hub
- Sue Dyson - Learning and Development Officer - Skills Learning and Development
For this award, we looked for someone who always tries to help, support, motivate and develop other people. They know when those around them need extra support – and offer it. They are on hand to offer ideas and suggestions when required. This person is a positive and steady presence and is always there when needed. They make their colleagues’ lives easier and happier and exhibit a consistently positive nature.
