SEND specialist teaching packages of support

SEND specialist teacher consultations, advice and training packages for primary, secondary and post-16 settings in Lancashire.

Assessment and short report. Time is spent in school to gain child and staff views, complete assessments with the child and to write the report and give verbal feedback. This package is used to support one child.

Observation and short report. Time is spent in school to observe the child within a range of settings in the school and to collate staff and child views. Then time is allocated to write the report and give verbal feedback. This package is used to support one child.

Assessment and formal report with optional TLP. This will include some or all of the following, time in school to observe the child, gain parents’ (if appropriate) and staff views, assess the child, with time allocated to writing the report. This should be used for one child.

Sensory profile and report. Time is spent within the school observing the child and speaking with staff. To complete a sensory profile, both the parents and the class teacher are to complete a questionnaire. Time is then allocated to collate and analyse results followed by writing a report with strategies included.

Supporting advice and report towards an Education Health and Care Needs Assessment Request. This will involve completing assessments and an observation of the child, gathering pupil views and speaking to the class teacher, TA and SENDco. Time will then be allocated for report writing and setting outcomes.

A ten-hour package enables a specialist teacher to support one or multiple children, SENDCo, teachers, TAs. This might be to work with one or more than one child regularly, complete observations/assessments which can be written up on an informal observation report or an Annual Review support or a combination of these. Please note that you only need to name one child on the application.

Hours can be planned throughout a year (min 2 hours per visit negotiated with Specialist Teacher) 

Multiples of the ten-hour package, for example: 20 hours, 30 hours, 40 hours etc. This enables a specialist teacher to support multiple children, SENDCo, teachers, TAs, work with one child regularly, complete assessments or a combination of these. Please note that you only need to name one child on the application.

Hours can be planned throughout a year (minimum 2 hours per visit negotiated with specialist teacher) 

Auditory Processing Disorder package is a total of 4 hours, and a specialist teacher will liaise with the school to discuss how best to use this time.

A minimum of 3 hours can be booked for a specialist teacher to complete multiple EAA assessments and Part 2 and 3 of the JCQ Form 8 will be completed following the JCQ guidelines.

Twilight training for staff working with VI / Deaf pupils.

This will include the following; time in school to complete parent and staff questionnaires, assess the child with time allocated to writing the report and providing feedback. This should be used for one child.
