Portage

The Early Years Team of the Lancashire Specialist Teaching Service delivers the Portage offer.

Portage is an educational home-visiting service for children from birth to 3 years, who have significant special educational needs and disabilities. In Lancashire, Portage is delivered by specialist higher level teaching assistants (HLTAs) who are additionally trained in Portage.

The specialist HLTA works in partnership with parents and carers in their own home. The aim of the service is to empower parents and carers in developing their child's play and learning and promote positive outcomes.

Portage is delivered in line with the Portage protocol.
