Research review series: mathematics - GOV.UK (2021)

This review explores the literature relating to the field of maths education. Its purpose is to identify factors that can contribute to high-quality school maths curriculums, assessment, pedagogy and systems. Ofsted use this understanding of subject quality to examine how maths is taught in England’s schools.

Coordinating mathematical success: the mathematics subject report - GOV.UK (2023)

This report follows up on the findings of the research review, evaluating common strengths and weaknesses of mathematics in 50 primary and secondary school inspections. The report makes recommendations relating to curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, systems at subject and school level, and for other organisations.
