Christmas opening times

On the lead up to Christmas an enhanced service will operate on designated late shopping nights through to 8:56pm and on Sundays

Sunday Opening Hours

The Walton-le-Dale site is open on Sundays from Sunday 1st December to Sunday 29th December inclusive. 

The first bus on Sunday from the Park and Ride site is at 10.00am.  Buses run every 15 minutes with the last bus leaving Preston Coach Station (Stand C) for the Park and Ride at 5.36pm

Late Night Opening Hours

The Walton Le Dale Park and Ride site is open late nights on Monday 16th to Friday 23rd December.  On these evenings, the last bus back from Preston Coach Station (Stand C) leaves at 8:56pm.

Over the Christmas period, the Walton-le-Dale Park and Ride site operates as follows:

  • Monday 16 to Friday 20 December 2024: Normal service with late night opening.  Last bus leaves Preston Coach Station (Stand C) at 8:56 pm
  • Saturday 21 December 2024: Saturday service with late night opening.  Last bus leaves Preston Coach Station (Stand C) at 8:56 pm
  • Sunday 22 December 2024: Sunday service
  • Monday 23 December 2024: Normal service with late night opening. Last bus leaves Preston Coach Station (Stand C) at 8:56 pm
  • Christmas Eve: Saturday service.
  • Christmas Day: Closed
  • Boxing Day: Closed
  • Friday 27 to Monday 30 December 2023: Saturday service
  • New Year's Eve: Saturday service.
  • New Year's Day: Closed
  • Thursday 2 to Friday 3 January 2025: Saturday service
  • Saturday 4 January 2025: Normal service resumes

The site is only intended for parking when using the bus service. Parking is not permitted if not using the bus service.

Opening times

Monday to Saturday

The site opens just prior to the first bus at 7am. The last bus leaves Church Street Stop J (opposite Preston Minster) in the city centre at 7.29pm and the site closes just after the bus arrives back at the site.

Buses operate every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday:

Sunday and Bank Holidays

No service - closed: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day

Park and ride bus fares

Parking on the site is completely free just buy your bus ticket from the driver on the park and ride bus.

The route

Due to the restoration works at the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library, until further notice, the drop off and pick up points in Preston City Centre are:

  • First stop: the Coach Station at Preston Bus Station
  • Second stop: Church Street Stop J, opposite Preston Minster.

Walton-le-Dale park and ride car park order: Parking conditions

  • Vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes or vehicles exceeding 2.1m high are prohibited from both the north and south car park
  • There are designated bays available for motorcycles

A penalty charge notice may be issued for failing to comply with the parking regulations

    • Parking in a restricted area
    • Parking beyond bay markings
    • Parked causing an obstruction
    • Parked in a parking place or area not designated for that class of vehicle
    • Vehicle exceeds maximum weight, height of length permitted
    • Using a vehicle in connection with the sale of goods or services
    • Parking in a place for a purpose other than that designated
    • Parked with engine running where prohibited
    • Parking in an electric vehicle bay whilst not charging
    • Parking for longer than permitted
    • Reparking within restricted time period
