Family reunion
We recognise that being forcibly separated from your family is one of the hardest things a person can ever experience. Family reunion is often the first thing people ask about once they receive refugee status in the UK.
Whilst we cannot assist directly with family reunion applications at Lancashire County Council, we have included the relevant information and links to organisations who can help below.
The government refugee family reunion policy is available.
Free Movement has an excellent Guide to applying for family reunion.
Further information about bringing an adult family member to live with you in the UK is available from Right To Remain.
Information on reuniting a child refugee with their family is available at: Family reunion for refugees and those with humanitarian protection (childrenslegalcentre.com)
Support
Many local Red Cross services are able to support with family reunion applications.
You can find your local refugee service on the Red Cross website.
Access research reports on the importance and challenges of refugee family reunion.
It is always advisable to seek legal advice from a qualified lawyer to get support with a family reunion application. Access to legal advice can be found in our 'Legal Support' Section.
