Who is this course for?

This course is for participants to would like to know how to create and use the 5 standard functions and use of formulas in MS Excel. This is a Level 1 course. 

Aim(s)

This course provides the skills and knowledge to create and work with the 5 standard functions and use of mathematical operators in analysing data. 

Objectives

  • Work with the 5 standard functions of - Sum, Average, Min, Max, Count
  • Introduce the date functions of Today and Now 
  • Transforming the Count function to incorporate blank cells and text cells as a count number 
  • Work with Formulae (BiDMAS review) 
  • Understand when and how to use Absolute and Relative References  
  • Recognise common error messages and how to fix these issues 
  • Formulae Auditing 
  • Name Box (create, edit & delete) 
  • Reviewing large tables in excess of 200 rows

Participants should be comfortable using a computer, to be able to navigate around the screen, work with folders and files, use the taskbar and manage the mouse.

All Microsoft Excel courses are designed to use the mouse and not the trackball facility that is available on the laptop. Please ensure you have a mouse to use.

For Virtual Training you will need to be familiar with using Microsoft Teams Meetings, work with the Windows Taskbar, to be able to switch applications and to access files and folders in File Explorer.
