MS Excel - Getting Started Level 1 - IT0056

Who is this course for?

This course is for any level of MS Excel users who would like to know how to create and work with data tables more efficiently. This is a Level 1 course.

Aim(s)

This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to create, format and use data tables in Excel to help with management of data and to understand the fundamentals of MS Excel on how the Application processes data inputs.

Objectives

· Navigate around the spreadsheet & Review Table layouts – table setup do's and don'ts

· Name Box fundamentals

· Manipulate the workbook, inserting columns, rows, additional worksheets and tab formatting

· Use of the replicator for a variety of actions

· Format data types in the spreadsheet eg changing cell formats - percentage, date etc

· Use Word Wrap in cells, Merge cells Vs centre cells

· Operate the functionality of FlashFill

· Apply sorts to data (vertical & horizontal)

· Working with filtering (font, cell colours)

Participants should be comfortable using a computer, to be able to navigate around the screen, work with folders and files, use the taskbar and manage the mouse. 

All Microsoft Excel courses are designed to use the mouse and not the trackball facility that is available on the laptop.  Please ensure you have a mouse to use.

For Virtual Training you will need to be familiar with using Microsoft Teams Meetings, work with the Windows Taskbar, to be able to switch applications and to access files and folders in File Explorer.
