Course overview
This course is designed for Lancashire County Council employees, who, during their daily duties are involved with the installation and removal of Portable Traffic lights
Course aim
This course has been developed to ensure that Lancashire County Council employees who are involved with Portable Traffic lights are aware of the legal implications, Lancashire County Council policies and procedures and hazards associated with installation, removal or maintenance of traffic management equipment.

Learning outcomes
The learners will understand the following:
Legal requirements associated with installation, removal or maintenance of Portable Traffic lights
- Mobile and short duration working
- Safety at Street Works (red book)
- Company procedures and risk assessments
- How to read and interpret relevant information
- Traffic Survey
- Installation of associated equipment
- Installation of two-way portable traffic lights.
Learning methods
A range of teaching and learning methods including presentation and demonstration will be used with a focus on individual and group participation. This will include a practical element on the highway of installing a portable set of traffic lights.
PRE-Requisites
All operatives attending must have completed TM003 training.
