Course Overview

This course is designed for organisations, who, during their duties are involved with any form of Temporary Traffic Management on the highway.

Who Should Attend: Managers, Designers & Technical Officers as identified on the "Mandatory Framework" who do not physically install Temporary Traffic Management but do have responsibility for the installation?

 Course Aims: To provide learners with the necessary underpinning technical knowledge of current basic practice and to meet minimum legal requirements where they apply. 

 The learning objectives are to create:

  • Safer working environment.
  • A reduction of costs and down times associated with poor practice.
  • Highly trained workforce.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course you will:

  • Have a working knowledge of National Highway Sector Schemes
  • Have an awareness of Traffic Management Health & Safety Issues
  • Have a working knowledge of all relevant documentation and reference materials including Chapter 8,TSRGD and "Safety at Street works ACOP"
  • Consider all options available to determine the level and extent of the Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) required
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the risk assessment process.
  • Have the ability to determine what temporary traffic layout is required for a given work location.
  • Understand the standard of equipment that is acceptable to use
  • What the implications of changing site conditions are.
  • Have the ability to confirm suitability of TTM plans prior to work starting on site
  • Be aware of the requirements of other road users

Learning Methods

A range of teaching and learning methods including presentation and demonstration will be used with a focus on individual and group participation.
