Emergency first aid at work - HS003
Course Overview
This course is designed for all employees who may require Emergency First Aid training advice and guidance. The training will enable them to respond, as a first responder, to an emergency situation.
Course Aim
This course has been developed to ensure that employees for Lancashire County Council, involved in an incident, are aware of and act within, the role and responsibilities of the emergency first aider.
It will train the employees to preserve life, prevent conditions from worsening and promote recovery, within several areas where the wellbeing of others is threatened.
Learning Objectives
Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
Assess an incident.
Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
Provide first aid to a casualty who is choking.
Provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock.
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries.
Know what to do at the scene of an accident.
Learning Methods
A range of teaching and learning methods including presentation, explanation, practical demonstration, imitation and practice will be used with a focus on individual and group participation.
Course Effectiveness
The underpinning knowledge and understanding is evaluated by question and answer sessions and observation of practice throughout the course of the training.
The Learning & Development centre will be responsible for keeping records of attendance on this course and maintaining the standard of delivery and making improvements from trainee and trainer feedback.
Course duration
7 hours (420 minutes) excluding any breaks.
