Course Overview

This course is designed for drivers and employees, the course looks at various health conditions, lifestyle choices and mental health issues that can affect employees anytime during their working life and personal life.

 Course Aim

This course has been developed to ensure that all operatives for Lancashire County Council are aware of the many health issues that today's lifestyle choices and our current society can contribute towards.  A worthwhile opportunity to analyse and discuss various Mental Health issues common in today's hectic environment, and to look at what solutions, support and guidance processes are available.

To raise awareness of the principles of having a healthy lifestyle and help in making informed choices when making decisions about our physical and mental health.

Learning Objectives

The learning objectives are to create:

  • Awareness of a variety of medical and mental health conditions
  • Understanding of the current issues relating to healthy lifestyle choices
  • Knowledge of early recognition of the signs of distress, depression or despair
  • Awareness of the effects of drink and drugs and the consequences of misuse
  • A clearer understanding of the support mechanisms and organisations available to offer help.
  • Promote positive lifestyle attitude through reflection, critique and company policy to improve general health and wellbeing. 

Learning Methods

A range of teaching and learning methods including presentation, demonstration, will be used with a focus on individual and group participation.

 Course Effectiveness

The underpinning knowledge and understanding is evaluated by question and answer sessions throughout the course culminating with a final re-cap quiz.

The Learning & Development centre will be responsible for keeping records of attendance on this course and maintaining the standard of delivery and making improvements from trainee and trainer feedback.

 

 Course Duration

7 hours (420 minutes) excluding any breaks

 Annual attendance on CPC course will count towards achieving 35 hours of training within a 5 year period, this is required to ensure Driver CPC validity is maintained.
