Who is this course for?
Social Workers, Team Managers, Social Care Support Officers and Occupational Therapists.
APPLICATIONS FROM STUDENT SOCIAL WORKERS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED IF RECEIVED WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE COURSE DATE. ANY APPLICATIONS RECEIVED BEFORE THIS WILL BE DELETED FROM THE SYSTEM.
Aims
To provide the knowledge and guidance so that practitioners may navigate through the provisions of ordinary residence
To enable participants to confidently identify the 'Nearest Relative' and deal with capacity issues that may impact the process.
This is an interactive session with a information presentation and group discussion
Objectives
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
• Identify the ordinary residence of a person in receipt of community care services.
• Describe the provisions of Ordinary Residence.
• Outline good practice in the event of local authority disputes.
• Explain ordinary residence for those subject to S117 MHA, those who lack
• capacity and those subject to NHS Continuing Health Care.
• Explain relevant case law and their implications for practice
• Identify the nearest relative.
• Decide when displacement is necessary.
• Explain the displacement process.
• Describe issues of capacity and how they may impact on the process.
