Who is this course for?
For staff in the Adult Social Care Teams who have had this training requirement identified in their supervision with their line manager as well as staff from N-Compass and Carers Link Services.
Aims
To enable staff to identify carers and undertake an assessment of carers needs with confidence and to differentiate between needs and outcomes.
Objectives
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Identify carers according to Lancashire Social Care Services definition
- Identify the requirements and responsibilities for assessment of carers needs under the Care Act 2014, Carers and Disabled Children Act 2000, the Department of Health guidance and Council policy and procedures
- Identify internal mechanisms and potential resources which are available from the private and voluntary sector to inform and support carers
- Undertake carer assessments effectively, with confidence and increased informed empathy
- Identify meaningful outcome focused care packages including the need for respite care
- Outline issues around equality safeguarding and mental capacity as they relate to carer's assessments.
- Clarify what is meant by a joint or combined assessment
- Understand the importance of establishing consent and adhering to the Data Protection and the GDPR guidelines throughout the assessment process
