Promoting the Education of Children Looked After (CLA), Previously Looked After Children (PLAC) and Children with a Social Worker (CWSW) in Lancashire - FC0131
This course is for Foster carers of Children Looked After (CLA), Residential staff supporting Lancashire's CLA, Special Guardianship Order parents of Previously Looked After children. Parents of children on a child in need or child protection plan.
Aims
These briefing sessions will provide information and advice to carers regarding the role of the virtual school, the education provision for children looked after and previously looked after children, school admissions and exclusions, children missing education, special educational needs funding, support for career progression and improving educational outcomes for vulnerable children.
Objectives
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Be aware of education legislation and practice in England.
- Have an increased awareness of educational outcomes for adopted children and young people.
- Explore the barriers to learning for children and young people impacted by trauma.
- Have an increased awareness of where/how children and young people learn and how they can be supported in the everyday.
