Men in fostering - FC0066
This course is specifically for men who foster.
Please note that these sessions will be hosted as a virtual classroom session. Learners enrolling for these sessions will need their own laptop/PC or smart device to log on to the session
Aims
To provide current male carers with an insight into how the children in their care might view men. To look at how male carers can create positive attitudes towards men. To enable a reflection on the male carer’s chance to influence best outcomes in three key fostering disciplines
Objectives
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
• List the behaviours and personal characteristics required to create a positive male role model.
• Detail the key actions and attitudes needed for male carers to deliver safe caring for themselves, their families and the children in their care.
• Understand how they can prepare and support a child through contact.
• Determine their role in preparing the child in their care for leaving care and saying goodbye in a manner that meets the child’s needs and takes account of their own emotions
