Introduction to safeguarding and child protection - FC0007
This course is for Foster Carers, Supervising Social Workers and Adopters
Please note that some of the courses will be hosted as a virtual classroom session. Learners enrolling for these sessions will need their own laptop/PC or smart device to log on to the session.
Aims
The course will encourage carers to reflect on their experience and aims to consolidate learning from other aspects of their training by considering a range of core issues from a safeguarding perspective.
Objectives
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Develop a clearer awareness of ‘safeguarding, promoting welfare and child protection' as defined in legislation, statutory guidance and the Pan-Lancashire Procedures
- Recognise the principles of 'safer caring' and safe working practice
- Demonstrate awareness of the vulnerability, risk and resilience children and young people may face in today's world
- To identify potential signs and indicators of different types of child abuse, neglect and exploitation recognising how to respond to them
- Define best practice in respect of listening, recording and responding to safeguarding issues and concerns
