Aims
This webinar explores differences between friendship groups and crime related gangs along with reasons for joining and the vulnerabilities that make some children and young people more at risk. It challenges the myths about loyalty and honour and raises awareness about the emotional and physical risks of criminal and sexual exploitation, gang life and county lines.
Objectives
- Recognise what a ‘gang’ is, attractions of gang membership and reasons for joining.
- Describe the law and potential consequences of gang membership and violent crime.
- State Government’s national strategy to tackle knife crime.
- Recognise the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and why some children and young people are more vulnerable to gangs than others.
- Explain the potential indicators of child criminal and sexual exploitation.
