Virtual School for Children Looked After

We work to promote the educational achievement of CLA and provide training for designated teachers, social workers and carers through the Virtual School for Children Looked After.

Professionals working with CLA and leaving care young people can get support and advice from the Virtual School Team.

If you are working with CLA who are at serious risk of exclusion, non-attendance or are not reaching their full educational potential we offer practical support.

This includes advice and support to help you:

  • create alternative packages of support
  • in your direct role with children and young people
  • prepare and complete the Personal Education Plan
  • with re-integration into mainstream education
  • work with other agencies
  • maintain school placements
  • with movement across local authorities

The team also supports children through personal visits to schools and colleges. We can direct and advise on activities such as sport to help motivate and re-engage hard to reach children and young people.
