Arrange a SEND review for your education setting
A SEND review looks at how your education setting provides for pupils or students with special educational needs and disabilities.
The review findings will help you improve your SEND provision and strategy so you can help young people to achieve good outcomes.
The national framework for SEND reviews was funded by the DfE and developed by NASEN in partnership with over forty outstanding special and mainstream schools.
Preparing for inspection
As part of the new Education Inspection Framework (EIF) inspectors will gather and evaluate evidence about pupils with SEND to determine if leaders are ambitious for all pupils including those with SEND.
They will consider how well leaders:
- identify, assess and meet the needs of pupils with SEND
- develop and adapt the curriculum
- involve parent carers and other professionals
- include pupils with SEND in all aspects of school life
- prepare pupils with SEND for their next steps
SEND reviews have been designed as a supportive way to complement the improvement approach taking place within each school.
Contact a reviewer
Thirty senior leaders from special schools and specialist services have been trained to complete SEND reviews in a range of education settings.
They will also have information about a range of resources and be able to 'signpost' available support.
