Tutor Support Packages
New Arrivals package
An EAL tutor can provide key support for newly arrived EAL learners. The tutor will assess pupils' needs and provide tailored support to help them settle in to school, develop their English language skills and access the curriculum. They will also help schools to better understand their pupils' learning needs.
Annual EAL Support Package
An EAL tutor will attend school regularly each week to provide ongoing support for EAL learners in school. If there are new arrivals during the year the tutor will be ideally placed to assess their needs and help them settle in. In most cases the tutor will attend for a morning session, an afternoon session or a full day. This package may also be arranged on a termly basis.
Short term intervention package
An EAL tutor can provide support for any EAL learners in school who would benefit from extra support to achieve their potential. An appropriate programme will be created to meet the needs of individual or groups of EAL learners.
