GRT Pupils Missing from School
The service works with schools, Pupil Access, Pupil Attendance, Children Missing Education and Elective Home Education teams to help locate GRT pupils who go missing from school. We also support work with parents to encourage them to communicate well with their children's school and to discuss any issues that might affect their child's attendance.
GRT children may go missing from school for a number of reasons. Some parents take their children out of school when they move to find work. Families living on temporary sites may get moved on at short notice. Many families choose to withdraw their children from secondary schooling in favour of home education. It is not always the case that parents inform schools when they take their children out.
