Local History: Crime and Punishment in Lancashire

Led by our Primary History Consultant, Steven Kenyon, this new, recorded course for history subject leaders and class teachers blends key messages, Ofsted updates and good practice in history with an exemplar, fully resourced, historical sequence of learning focussing on Crime and Punishment in Lancashire since 1066. The exmplified unit of work focuses on the key concepts of 'justice and equality' and 'change and continuity' whilst also extending pupils' chronological knowledge of British history. 

Two in-depth, local history case studies are featured within the sequence of learning: 'Mary Hindle and the East Lancashire Loom Breakers' and 'A football club (Turf Moor) break-in.' Both case-studies are complimented with an array of fascinating artefacts provided by Lancashire Archives. 

For subject leaders, this recorded course demonstrates how leaders can design their own history curriculum in a cohesive, progressive way building in key concepts and ample opportunities to revisit and apply key concepts.
