  • Steph Johnson (Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant)

- The importance of planning opportunities for pupils to talk in lessons.
- Practical strategies for minimising the amount of adult talk and engaging pupils in talk for learning.
- A range of ideas which can be used across the curriculum.

Oracy underpins the most effective teaching and learning and in March 2024, the Ofsted subject report on English stated the importance of pupils learning how to become competent speakers. This was reinforced in October 2024 when a new report by the Oracy Commission on the Future of Oracy Education in England said that "…in order to prepare young people for their future, oracy should be the fourth “R” of education – of equal status to reading, writing and arithmetic."

This course will share a range of tried and tested practical strategies for maximising pupil talk across the curriculum.

We would be grateful if you could attend on a device with a working camera and microphone.
