The aims of this course are to:
- examine research, evidence and policies which identify key components to support an increase in physical activity within the school day;
- discuss how to achieve 60 active minutes within the school day;
- look at overcoming the barriers faced with implementing 60 active minutes;
- look at the range of programmes available to support the 60 active minutes; and
- review available packages and programmes.

This exciting new course is designed for PE subject leaders who want to increase physical activity throughout the school day to boost heath and academic achievement for children.

On the course we will examine how to meet the requirements of the government's childhood obesity plan. Explore solutions to boost wellbeing and achievement by building in active minutes into the whole school day and influence active minutes beyond the school day. We analyse children's 24 hours per day in terms of sedentary time, sleep time, stepping time and sweating time.
