  • Kate Griffiths (Secondary Maths Consultant)

Aimed at teachers who are not maths specialists but find themselves teaching maths this year, this course aims to:
• Develop knowledge and understanding of the secondary mathematics curriculum
• Build confidence with mathematical vocabulary, notation and conventions
• Support with effective planning of a task/lesson/sequence of lessons to develop and challenge student understanding
• Deepen understanding of current pedagogical techniques, including the use of manipulatives, models and representations

This course is best suited to those relatively new to teaching maths. Those who are more experienced and looking to further develop their subject knowledge and pedagogy may find the twilight series 'Subject knowledge enhancement for non-specialist teachers of secondary mathematics' more appropriate to their needs.
