• To explore the prerequisites for effective teaching and learning in mathematics.
• To identify the five themes of a teaching for mastery approach (coherence, representation, variation, mathematical thinking and fluency).
• To consider how these five themes can be embedded within daily mathematics lessons.

This half day session will unpick the features of an effective lesson structure in mathematics and will support delegates in identifying the key principles for learning. Regardless of what scheme is being used in school, this course will help teachers to effectively tailor their resources to maximise their impact on learning.
