This course will cover:
• This WRAP session is a free specialist workshop, designed by HM Government and delivered by an accredited trainer to give you:
• An understanding of the Prevent strategy and your role within it
• The ability to use existing expertise and professional judgment to recognise the vulnerable individuals who may need support
• Local safeguarding and referral mechanisms and people to contact for further help and advice
PREVENT is part of the government counter-terrorism strategy, it is designed to tackle the problem of terrorism at its roots, preventing people from supporting terrorism or becoming involved in terrorism themselves.
Schools and childcare providers are expected to assess the risk of children being drawn into terrorism, including support for extremist ideas that are part of terrorist ideology. This means being able to demonstrate both a general understanding of the risks affecting children and young people in the area and a specific understanding of how to identify individual children who may be at risk of radicalisation and what to do to support them.
This course has been designed to increase understanding and awareness to ensure staff working in schools know what mechanisms are in place to reduce the risk of young people.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have received any DSL training recently, you may have already covered some elements of this course.
To access the session, a login and password will be sent to each participant with additional guidance and support for logging in. Meeting will take place online. Joining information will be emailed to delegates beforehand
