- To support a robust, strategic approach to developing oracy across the curriculum.

- To explore what knowledge components might underpin a school's oracy curriculum.

- To explore a variety of generic teaching and learning strategies that would support quality talk in the classroom.

- To support effective short term and long-term development plans for quality oracy across the curriculum.

Quality reading and writing both exist on a rich sea of talk. The development of students' oracy skills is therefore fundamental to their academic success, but also to young people's outcomes in life. Drawing on relevant research such as the Ofsted research report 'Telling the Story', this course will explore how schools can create a culture of talk across the curriculum through a strategic and well-planned approach, so all teachers nurture student oracy effectively.
