The focus will thus be on best practice in teaching different forms of writing as informed by the reading of exemplar texts: writing as a reader. There will also be a particular emphasis on the overt teaching of grammar for effect. Whilst the focus of this course is on the needs of ECTs, this course would be appropriate for recently qualified teachers and non-specialist English teachers. Furthermore, colleagues who did not attend day one are welcome to attend this session.

Sessions will focus on the different components of both GCSE English language and GCSE English literature, and how best to support student learning for excellent outcomes. Whilst the focus of this course is on the needs of ECTs, this course would be appropriate for recently qualified teachers and non-specialist English teachers. Furthermore, colleagues who did not attend day one or day two are welcome to attend this session.

This course is designed for delegates to attend all three dates (bookings will need to be made separately for each date) but there is the option to attend just one or two.
