The Primary English and Literacy Team at Lancashire Professional Development Service (LPDS) have developed a systematic, synthetic phonics planning programme using the Letters and Sounds approach titled Red Rose Letters and Sounds.

This course is designed to support practitioners with planning, delivering and assessing the reading curriculum in Reception and Key Stage 1 for schools that use the Red Rose Letters and Sounds Programme. Practical support, including book matching guidance, and key messages for session delivery will be provided for shared, guided, and one to one reading . The two session approach for guided reading will be explored and exemplified in detail with a focus on decoding, fluency, language development, vocabulary and comprehension.

This course is suitable for any teachers and teaching assistants who plan and deliver reading sessions in Reception and Key Stage 1.
