This course provides an opportunity for subject leaders to:
• consider effective practice for leading writing in the primary school using triangulation monitoring documents;
• examine writing as defined by the National Curriculum 2014 for curriculum pathways in order to ensure progression of skills and outcomes across year groups and key stages;
• explore approaches for modelling, scaffolding and independence in writing; and
• reflect on current practice with colleagues and identify next steps for implementation in school.

At present, writing continues to be a key focus for most primary schools. This course will support subject leaders in auditing writing, identifying areas for development, discussing strategies to address these, and formulating next steps Participants will receive a comprehensive toolkit to support the role of leading writing which will be explored during the course.
