Talk Six is a year-long CPD programme designed to improve outcomes for children in Y6.

The cost of this programme is £650 for one member of staff attending each session and includes four full days and three half days of CPD.

This CPD programme is also suitable for Year 7 teachers to engage with CPD using a wide range of effective strategies for teaching spoken language, reading and writing skills when designing English units of work. In addition, it is useful for working alongside Year 6 colleagues when assessing and moderating writing across the year.

This programme includes:
- English Publication Bridging Unit - The Nowhere Emporium - a full unit of work to be delivered in autumn 1 (prior to the start of Talk Programme training)
CPD Day 1 – an exemplified biography unit of work (4-5 weeks), to be delivered in the the autumn term, with a comprehensive resource pack.
CPD Day 2 – an exemplified classic fiction integrated unit of work with non-fiction and poetry (5-6 weeks), to be delivered in the spring term, with a comprehensive resource pack.
CPD Day 3 – an exemplified Shakespeare unit of work using Romeo and Juliet (up to 6 weeks), to be delivered in the second half of the spring term or summer term, with a comprehensive resource pack.

Half-day Shakespeare workshop delivered by the Coram Shakespeare Schools Foundation.

Two half-day update sessions with a focus on key skills alongside moderation training and workshops in the autumn and spring terms. Models of moderation will be explored which can be utilised back in school.

Half-day ‘Last Push Pack for Writing’ training and two units of work provided: Wonder and The 1000 Year Old Boy

Half-day final moderation led by KS2 Moderators for Writing, prior to end of year data submission.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Talk Six Programme and feel it has impacted hugely on my teaching. As a head teacher next year, I will definitely be booking my staff onto this training. Thank you for your help and support and making the training interesting and fun. You are all superb! (Talk Six delegate 2023-2024)

I really enjoyed the programme as it had many fantastic suggestions and resources. I have recommended the programme to friends at different schools too. It was good to have the help and support with planning the day-by-day process of each unit and I went away after each session fired up and ready to go with planning and delivering the unit for my class.
