This course will:
- provide teaching assistants with an opportunity to reflect on the key messages relevant to working within EYFS including learning through play, child initiated learning, outdoor provision, key person, etc;
- identify the key strategies for assessing children’s learning and development in the prime and specific areas of learning and development, with an emphasis on observation;
- support teaching assistants in developing effective observational skills, and on how to use observations to make accurate judgements on children’s learning and development; and
- explore the importance of the role of the adult in supporting learning and development in the reception class.
