  • Lynsey Norris (Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant-Primary)
  • Caroline Yabantu (Teaching and Learning Consultant - Primary English)
  • Elaine Williams (Assessment Consultant)

Course Aims:
To provide guidance for Year 2 teachers making judgements against statements from the Teacher Assessment Framework.
To benchmark evidence against national examples.
To participate in professional discussions to support moderation of judgements.

From last academic year (2023/2024) schools are no longer required to submit data for children at the end of Key Stage 1 however moderation continues to be best practice and the opportunity to engage in professional discussions with colleagues beyond your own school setting is invaluable.

This full day course will give participants the opportunity to engage with benchmarking activities against national exemplification and to take part in professional discussions around moderation and making judgements of children's attainment.

Participants are asked to bring teacher assessment evidence for reading, writing and mathematics for three children. This may include hard copy evidence such as work in book, teachers records and photographs or electronic evidence such as that on an iPad/tablet.

Opportunities will be given to discuss the accuracy of judgements with other practitioners, consultants and local authority moderators.

This full day course will be split into two sessions, English and mathematics with participants taking part in both sessions.
